NASA contracted competition Ke Kime Kao Lele Keu Loa has been participating in for the past 3 years.

The University Student Launch Initiative of the Student Launch Project is a student rocket competition contracted by NASA. It is part of the outreach program for NASA, and is designed to give students a hands-on experience with rocketry and to get students interested in STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) programs. All the procedures, from full documentations and presentations, are done according to NASA guidelines. Specific requirements for the competition must be met. Ke Kime Kao Lele Keu Loa begins the process with submitting a proposal to NASA. After nine long months, the team, if they've successfully completed everything, is able to go to Huntsville, AL to launch their rocket and payload.

The WCC University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) Team will design a rocket to carry a non‐specific payload, of limited weight and size, to a specific altitude of 1 mile (5,280’) and then return safely. The projected vehicle dimensions for the WCC USLI team rocket would be about a 6 inch diameter tube, 10 foot 1 inch overall length, and have a mass about 20kgs.
